PI
"Working with Pi, encompassing all of my previous work with geometric shapes and esoterics. It sums up the result of my life and work, from a particular chapter of my life, where there is me, my art, my feminine essence and my three children.
The number pi for me is the vibration of time in space. Its endless digits after the decimal point, combinations of all possible digital combinations are the sound of times, all possible variants of events at all times."
12 CHAIRS
“We take the number 12 and beat it. I start with the parallel of the 12 apostles with the 12 chairs they sat on, the moving on to the 12 signs of the zodiac, taking you into the labyrinth of numerology, into esoteric reasoning regarding numbers. I juggle different objects and images. Any material body is just a vibration. People turn into spoons and forks, chairs, eggs, teeth. There is a psychedelic stream of consciousness.
The main idea of Last Supper is unity and gathering. The unity of people is religion. Without communication - black space, deathly silence.
In the twentieth century, there was a very famous Russian novel '12 Chairs' describing the adventures of a infamous, "supernatural" con-artist, Ostap Bender. The plot consists of the protagonist trying to hunt down a specific set of 12 chairs (12 apostles), as one of these chairs has diamonds hidden in it. As he is looking for the diamonds, they turned out to be in the treacherously elusive last chair - Judas Iscariot. Diamonds are needed to access heaven.
In the Soviet paradigm, paradise is the well-being of the USSR, so a new house of culture is being built on Bender's diamonds, when he eventually finds the last chair.
The analogy between 12 chairs and 12 signs of the zodiac is in the first description of Ostap: he appears before the reader, holding an astrolabe, an ancient astronomical instrument, in his hands. Situations of finding chairs and their owners have zodiac traits.
